Setting up a social area in Reading

I needed a bespoke home bar after hosting a party where we ran out space. I decided to search near the Oracle Shopping Centre.

I found the site while scrolling and emailed photos. Central Bedroom and Kitchens responded with a quote that seemed fair for the work.

The journey of organising this project was actually quite involved. I spent many hours thinking on the configuration of the room before even picking up the device. My living area has constantly felt slightly unfinished, and owning a proper zone for beverages felt like the ideal fix to that problem. I recall sitting in my kitchen looking at a messy countertop filled with bottles and feeling that something had to change. The initial interaction with the staff was extremely simple, which gave me confidence. We discussed various aesthetics, from contemporary sleek looks to something classic and timber textures. I was really surprised by how much information they requested regarding the dimensions and the existing interior of my home. It felt like they truly wanted the finished result to blend perfectly with the balance of the property. I offered various views in the photos I sent, making sure every corner was clear. They explained that the custom type of the furniture signified that precision was entirely paramount to avoid any issues throughout the installation. We went back and forth on potential resources, searching at swatches of laminate and different types of timber grain. It is surprising how many consideration goes into selecting the right handles, like pulls and copyrights, which could totally alter the vibe of the whole build. I wanted a place where I could comfortably prepare cocktails for friends without needing to constantly dash back to the kitchen for lemons or glasses. The ease of possessing all items in one spot was the main reason for this investment. We settled the blueprint after a brief meeting where all my questions about wiring and electric sockets were addressed. I appreciated that they didn't rush the planning phase, spending the effort to make sure that the width of the racks was enough for my tallest bottles. It felt like a joint process instead than a simple sale, which is hard to locate nowadays.

The installation date came faster than anticipated, and the fitter was punctual and prepared. He started by placing down protective covers to make sure my carpet remained tidy. Watching the components being unloaded was fascinating, as the standard of the wood was instantly obvious. He carefully checked the levels of the walls before attaching the base frame of the unit. I watched as the skeleton gradually took form, transforming a plain alcove into a practical piece. The degree of craftsmanship required in fitting the panels to the wonky surfaces of my older home was impressive. He explained how each piece slotted in to provide total stability. We wasted a little duration deciding on the exact height for the built-in cooler, ensuring it was accessible to open but tucked back from direct view. The installation of the counter was the most rewarding moment of the whole process. Seeing the polished top finally resting on the base helped the vision feel real. He next installed the mirrored backing, which instantly caused the space to look twice the size. The lighting were wired afterward, and checking them for the initial moment was a highlight. The soft glow below the shelves highlighted the glassware perfectly. I was able to visualise exactly how useful this would be for night parties. The fitter was highly diligent, spending the time to clean down each area and remove any debris created during the drilling. He also demonstrated me the way to adjust the shelves if I ever needed to store larger pieces. The attention to precision was really exceptional, straight down to the sealant lines around the joins. It was clear that he had immense satisfaction in his craft, which is always reassuring to witness. We did a last inspection of the completed work to ensure all was perfect. I observed that one knob was slightly wobbly, and he fixed it straight away with a fast twist of a tool. This thoroughness was exactly what I was looking for when I booked the service.

The finished bar looks completely amazing and has become the focal feature of my downstairs. It offers a classy vibe that was previously missing from my living space. The storage is huge, enabling me to sort all my spirits, sodas, and specialist glassware in one unified unit. No more do I have to search inside cramped cupboard cabinets to find a corkscrew or a certain type of tumbler. Everything has its proper place, which renders hosting much more easier and stress-free. I love the way the materials reflect the light in the afternoons, creating a warm atmosphere. My guests have already praised the design multiple occasions, with some actually inquiring for the details of the company who built it. It truly feels like a custom addition tailored specifically for my needs. The height of the surface is ideal for standing around with a glass, and the integrated LED strips offer just the correct level of illumination without being too bright. Even when not in use, it works as a beautiful piece of furniture that elevates the entire aesthetic of the property. I spent some time placing my collection on the shelves to create a pleasing display. The glass back really assist in displaying the labels and adding dimension to the small space. It has encouraged me to experiment creating new cocktails that I before thought were too complicated to bother in a normal setting. Having the tap close might have been good, but the area limits meant we opted against it to preserve cabinet space. This was a deliberate decision we made during the design stage, and I certainly not rue it. The additional drawer space for straws and tools is far more valuable to me in the long period.

There were a few of small drawbacks that are fair to noting for a honest view. The lead time for the bespoke panels was a little slower than I originally wanted. It took about eight days from the initial deposit to the actual installation date. While this is understandable for tailored work, it required a some of waiting on my part. I had wanted to have it ready for a specific event, but we passed that date by a few days. However, the updates from the team about the delay were regular, so I was not kept in the unknowing. I would hold a little more for a product that is made to last than receive a rushed work that fails after a few years. The initial price quote was additionally a little lower than the total invoice, mostly because I decided to improve the handles and add more inside lights midway through the process. These changes were entirely my choice, and the team was very transparent about the additional fees required. Another minor issue was the amount of packaging left following the install. Although the technician tidied up the work site well, there was a significant pile of waste to get rid of in my bins. It wasn't a big deal, but a thing to consider if you possess limited waste room. Despite these minor points, the total experience was vastly good. The standard of the fit is far better to anything I might have bought from a shop. It feels sturdy and well-constructed, and I am confident it will handle decades of use. I feel the worth it has added to my home well outweighs the initial cost. It has transformed the fitted bar way I use my living space, making it far more inviting. I no longer sense cluttered when people come over.

Thinking back on the entire project, I am really happy I opted ahead with it. The first idea originated from a visit to a friend's place in London, where they had a comparable bar. I saw then how greatly it improved the movement of the evening. When I got back to Reading, I began looking for nearby options and discovered that working with a bespoke provider was the best way to get the precise style I desired. The ability to pick every detail, from the shade of the stain to the position of the power outlets, ensured the final result was just as I envisioned. I even got a tiny hidden compartment included for keeping expensive items like silver spoons. This kind of personalisation is what renders the experience unique. It didn't seem like a mass-produced piece being forced into a room where it didn't belong. Instead, it looks like it has forever been a part of the architecture. If you are thinking about a similar domestic upgrade, my advice would be to be calm and invest the time on the design stage. It is much easier to change a sketch than it is to fix a unit once it is built. The knowledge offered during the start was crucial in stopping me from doing simple errors, such as placing the cooler too close to a radiator. These little bits of advice are what you pay for when you hire experienced experts. I am currently looking at different areas of my house to see where further I could install fitted storage. The outcome of this fitted project has provided me the drive to tackle a bigger renovation in the kitchen later year. It is a wonderful upgrade to my daily routine, and I view ahead to many years of enjoying it with relatives and pals. Finding the right balance between looks and function was the aim, and I feel we reached it completely. The process from a cluttered alcove to a sleek hosting hub was truly deserving the effort and investment required. I today possess a space that I am truly happy to show off to visitors. Reading has many great places to visit for a drink, but honestly, I now prefer being at home and using my own private bar. It provides the identical feel without the crowds or the commute. That itself is deserving the entire undertaking. I am very pleased with how the ambience functions in the night, providing a relaxing environment to relax after a busy shift at work. It is the small treats like this that make house life so pleasant and enjoyable. I really appreciate the workmanship that was put into the final product. The way the panels close with a soft click tells volumes about the construction quality. No detail was overlooked, and the final appearance is precisely what I hoped it would be when I first started this process. It is a credit to the skill of the team and the quality of the materials used. I am a very happy customer.
